New York might get most of its credit for being the state with New York City, the largest city in the United States, but there is so much that you can do in the state with your family. If you find yourself going to New York state with kids, here are a few fun things that you can do.

Go Camping

You might think that all New York has to offer is big city sights and energy, but in upstate New York and surrounding areas, there are tons of opportunities to set up a tent, roll out the sleeping bags, and get some shut-eye out in Mother Nature.

Go to a Broadway Show

If you venture into the city, you shouldn’t miss your opportunity to see a world-class stage show on Broadway. You can’t find these shows anywhere else, and the price of admission is more than worth it and your family will remember it forever.

Visit the Statue of Liberty

If you’re even remotely close to New York City, you’d be making a mistake if you didn’t take a day to visit the Statue of Liberty. This historic landmark is all over the pages of your kids’ textbooks and they’ll be amazed to see it in person.

Go to Niagara Falls

Known across the world, right on the border of Canada is Niagara Falls. These falls are some of the tallest in the nation, and there are plenty of opportunities to tour the falls and learn about the history of the area. Your kids won’t soon forget the trip. Just make sure to bring a poncho!

See Dinosaurs

If your kids love fossils and dinosaurs, you should take them to the American Museum of Natural History! They have world-class displays of complete dinosaur fossils, and there are also other cool and exciting exhibits to view.
