So, you’ve finally decided that it was time for the kids to experience Hawaii. You made a fantastic choice! Hawaii is a popular travel destination in the United States, and people travel from across the world to come visit.

So, just because adults love it, will your kids have a memorable time there too? Absolutely! Here are our tips and some of our favorite kid-friendly destinations and activities while traveling Hawaii with the family.

Check out Diamond Head

Diamond Head is a hiking trail that offers stunning panoramic views from the top of an extinct volcano crater. Just because it’s a hike, you shouldn’t worry that you or the kids can’t make it to the top. The trail is wide, and you can leisurely walk up to the top even with a baby strapped to you. The view is more than worth it, and with an entry fee of only $1, the price is well worth it.

Take the Kids to The Zoo

If you find yourself on Oahu, we recommend that you spend a day in Honolulu and visit the famous Honolulu Zoo. Just as with any zoo in the world, every location will have something different and unique. Hawaii is no exception to this! At the Honolulu Zoo, you’ll find 905 different animals spread out over 42 acres. It’s centrally located between Diamond Head and Waikiki, and it’s easy to catch public transportation to it while you’re out and about.

Go to a Traditional Luau

No trip to Hawaii is complete without attending a traditional Hawaiian Luau! Once you buy your tickets, you’ll be in for a treat that your kids won’t soon forget. Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the performers and the Chief. There are tons of different pre-dinner activities and depending on the Luau you choose to attend, they might be different. Even so, you can expect that your kids will have a great time learning how to build a fire with sticks, throw a spear, and more. Then, the main course will be unearthed, and it’s time to dig in followed by singing and dancing performances. To put it simply, if you want to have a memorable trip in Hawaii, a Luau is a must.
