Things to Do in California with the Family

California is the perfect state to take your entire family on a week-long vacation. Even though the state is huge, no matter where you are in California or which city you choose to stay in, you’re bound to have endless opportunities to keep the kids entertained and create memories that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.

Before you head out, it’s essential to create a list of the things that you want to do to make sure that not a single second in the state is wasted. Here are a few of our favorite family-friendly activities in California that you should add to your itinerary.

Experience California’s Beautiful Natural Surroundings

While most people will think that California is only about the big cities, there is plenty to do outside the city. For one, at Redwoods National Park, you’ll be able to explore some of the tallest and oldest living trees in the country. You can also explore coves and the desert around the state. We highly recommend that you pick a natural spot close to where you’re staying and spend a day outside enjoying the crisp California air.

Spot Some Stars

If you find yourself in Los Angeles, you shouldn’t pass up your opportunity to immerse yourself in the waves of culture and entertainment. For starters, you should head down to Hollywood for the Hollywood Walk of Fame and see the stars from some of your favorite movies, TV shows, and musical acts. You can also head up to the Hollywood sign for a fun hike that will take you up close and personal to the world-famous landmark.

Find a Theme Park

There are countless theme parks around the state. From Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farms, and, of course, the Happiest Place on Earth, Disney Land, you’ll have a day full of fun at any of these places. As a pro tip, we recommend that you do your research and find a time when the park won’t be jam-packed with people so you can spend less time waiting in lines and more time on the rides.

Visit the Beach

A trip to the west coast wouldn’t be complete without spending some time lounging around on the beach. There are countless opportunities to visit the beach, although southern cities like San Diego and Los Angeles provide the warmest and best beaches in the state.

Make New Friends

The San Diego Zoo is world-famous for having the most extensive selection of animals in one place. You can spend an entire day there are your kids learn more about exotic animals from around the world. In total, there are around 4,000 animals at the zoo from all around the world, and some of these animals are incredibly rare. If water animals are more your style, you can also head over to Sea World to see the incredible aquatic mammals and fish they have to offer.
