Nevada: Traveling on a Budget
Nevada Traveling on a Budget
When you think of Nevada, and most specifically, Las Vegas, the word “inexpensive” probably isn’t the first thing to come to mind. It’s no secret that Las Vegas is a place where you can win tons of money, but also lose even more in the process.
From luxury resorts to restaurants, shows, concerts, and of course, the legendary casinos, for the price-conscious person, thinking of Nevada leads to worries of an empty wallet and an overinflated credit card.
Don’t worry! Even in Las Vegas and the entire state of Nevada, there are plenty of opportunities to save money! Here are a few tips to help you travel and stay in Nevada on a budget.
Look for Free Attractions
Even just a stroll down the Vegas Strip is a great, free way to spend an afternoon. The resorts and casinos are known around the world and snapping pictures and marveling at their size is worth the price of admission – nothing!
You can also venture into the casinos and explore. Inside, you’ll find animal habitats, aquariums, and other features that are absolutely free to explore. Just get creative, and you should be able to have tons of fun without spending a thing.
Don’t Gamble
It might seem like a waste of time to visit Las Vegas and Nevada without gambling, but it’s the surefire way to save money. Even just spending an hour in the casino at the tables or slot machines could easily cost you a few hundred dollars. Sure, you might win, but the house always wins in the end.
If you absolutely must gamble to get the entire Vegas experience, just be practical and put a few dollars aside in your budget, and once you hit your limit, walk away and do some of the other free things in the city.
Buy Same Day Tickets
Las Vegas is known for its shows and other entertainment attractions, but buying your tickets in advance could easily set you back a few hundred dollars. There is another way! On the strip, you’ll find vendors selling tickets to these shows at significant discounts on the same day. You won’t be able to plan much in advance, and the seats might not be the greatest, but you’ll still be able to get into the big show of the night!
Venture off the Strip
Sure, all of the fancy restaurants that you’ve read about in travel magazines are on the strip, but if you just go a few blocks over, you’ll save tons of money and have food that is equally as tasty. If you want to save even more money, you should try eating your dinner meals a little early. Most restaurants often have cheaper rates during the early evening hours.
Also, if you have a huge appetite, the buffets inside casinos aren’t a bad deal. You can also look into getting unlimited passes which let you get more than your fill and also include unlimited free drinks in most cases too.
